BIGGEST STREET RACE IN MEMPHIS HISTORY
February 20th and 21st promise to be a a moment in history for racers descending on Rivergate road in Memphis Tennessee. With one hundred or more cars locked in for this event, racers and spectators alike are getting ready for the season opening weekend in NoPrep Drag Racing.
Dennis Bailey and Shaye Kelly created “Grudge On The Gate” back in December as a way to raise racing moral in Memphis where it had been at a low point for some years. With Memphis International Raceway being closed for years at this point, most Mid-Southerners would have to drive for an hour or more to satisfy that drag racing need. Shay Kelley brings her experience with working with the local government to get the necessary permits for the event, and Dennis Bailey and his brother Derrick have years of racing, promotion, and television experience all over the country.
Can you imagine 100 race cars on the street, most tracks have issues getting these races off with a lesser car count. What Dennis and the crew have accomplished with the first race has brought an electricity to the area, racers are buzzing with readiness and anticipation. The race will pay several spots, 80% going to 1st place, 20% going to 2nd plaCE, and more payouts and prizes from the crew that honestly are pretty sweet.
History will be made on this weekend, Rivergate road in Memphis Tennessee. One thing is for certain, this will be a race that people talk about for a long time. The only question is, “Are You Street” ?
